Annual Fund

To create one’s own world in any of the arts take courage.
--Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986)

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation applauds that courage.  And, we do so every day by providing artists and audiences with what they most need -- the administrative and financial support to create and present works of art.  We can’t do it alone. You can show your support by sending your gift to the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s Annual Fund Campaign todayAnnual fund gifts ensure that we meet our mission to support the richness and diversity of the arts in our region and share them with the rest of the nation and the world.  In the last year alone, we provided over $2.2 million in support of projects involving almost 6,000 artists, more than 1,000 residency activities and almost as many performances at home and abroad.  This translated into audiences of almost 700,000 people (including close to 100,000 youth) who benefited from projects supported by Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation.

Please make sure that the arts in our region get a standing ovation in 2008!

Join Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation for our Artistry & Influence Tour celebrating the legacies of Joan Myers Brown, Martha Graham and Bernice Johnson Reagon as we provide support for the presentation of their respective companies, Philadanco, the Martha Graham Dance Company and Sweet Honey in the Rock.  There are many more tours and projects going on throughout the region in which Mid Atlantic is involved…

Theatre buffs will want to catch Aquila Theatre Company’s tour of Julius Caesar, bringing one of Shakespeare’s most relevant and timely works to life.

Dance enthusiast?  Catch Paul Taylor’scompany Taylor II.

Music lover?  Don’t miss the Morgan State University Choir; Jazz fans will enjoy Jason Moran and The Bandwagon, considered among the most provocative thinkers in current jazz.

Traditionalist?  Go hear Irish folk impresario and musician Mick Maloney, a National Heritage Award recipient.

Visual arts aficionado? Residency activities are occurring throughout the region including media artist Barbara Meg Bickart’s collaborative project with Puerto Rican percussion and dance ensemble Segunda Quimbamba at the Jersey City Museum to make a film about the effects of gentrification in their historic downtown neighborhood.

Please give generously.  Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) federally tax-exempt nonprofit organization and your gift is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.  On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Lisa Frigand
