Mid Atlantic Creative Fellowships
Mid Atlantic Creative Fellowships are offered
annually to two artists from each of MAAF’s member states
for residencies at artist retreat centers
or other artist-focused organizations that are able to provide the
special facilities or
equipment necessary to create new work and
explore new ideas and concepts.
Each year, a special discipline focus
is
chosen and one artist from each state works
in-residence creating new work at a facility
that provides technical support for that discipline.
As an adjunct to the residency portion of
the program, MAAF creates special opportunities
to bring the work that is created to the attention
of the public through exhibitions or other
means.
The Foundation also supports one artist
from each member state in a month-long residency
at either the Millay Colony for the Arts in
Austerlitz, NY or the Virginia Center for
the Creative Arts in Sweet Briar, VA. These
centers cater primarily to writers, composers
and visual artists allowing them undisturbed
time to pursue artistic projects.
