Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Announces 2008
ArtsCONNECT Performing Arts Touring Grants

Baltimore, MD - June 14, 2007 - Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of 55 grants through its 2008 ArtsCONNECT program. The grants will provide $308,720 in fee support for 12 performing arts ensembles. Grants are awarded directly to the presenting organization supporting the artists' tour. The Foundation received 73 applications requesting over $730,000 in support of 16 tours for the 2008 funding round of ArtsCONNECT. In keeping with the Foundation's commitment to increasing access to and greater understanding of the arts, many of the funded engagements will feature workshops, residencies, or classes in conjunction with performances.

ArtsCONNECT supports performing arts tours through presenter consortia and partnerships in the mid- Atlantic region. This year's projects include: Borealis Wind Quintet, Diavolo, Gary Burton Chick Corea Duo, McCoy Tyner and Savion Glover, Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, Grupo Mono Blanco, Rapetipetam and Ata Gallup, touring under the combined title of NAFTA: North American Festival of Traditional Arts, Peru Negro, Ragamala Music and Dance Theater, Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, Urban Bush Women, Victoria Marks, and Yamato.

ArtsCONNECT 2008 grants will support performing arts presenters in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation supports the richness and diversity of the region's arts resources and promotes wider access to the art and artists of the region, nation and world. The region includes nine states and jurisdictions that are closely related by geography or culture: District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.
