Artists & Communities 2008-2009 Guidelines Available

Baltimore, MDMid Atlantic Arts Foundation announces the release of guidelines for the 2008/2009 cycle of Artists & Communities, a program that offers support for long-term residencies partnering visiting artists with nonprofit organizations to conduct community-based creative projects.

Artists & Communities provides opportunities for professional artists who are residents of the District of Columbia, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania to collaborate with nonprofit organizations in projects that result in the creation of new work and involve members of the host community in active participation in the artistic process.  Participating organizations must be located in the Foundation’s service area of Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.

New for 2008-2009, Artists & Communities applicants will fill out their application online.  For information purposes, guidelines can be downloaded online here.  The deadline for the applications is December 3, 2007 for projects taking place between April 1, 2008 – March 31, 2009.

Artists & Communities is supported by funding the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Johnson & Johnson, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, The Heinz Endowments, The William Penn Foundation, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and JP Morgan Chase.

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation supports the richness and diversity of the region’s arts resources and promotes wider access to the art and artists of the region, nation and world. To learn more about MAAF, its programs and services, visit our Web site at www.midatlanticarts.org.
