Program Supports Performing Arts Engagements
in Delaware, the District of Columbia,
the U.S. Virgin Islands, and West Virginia
Baltimore, MD – August 7, 2020 – Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, in partnership with the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the Delaware Division of the Arts, the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts, and the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, has announced $56,125 in grants through the 2020-2021 Special Presenter Initiatives program.
The Special Presenter Initiatives offer small and mid-sized presenting organizations in Delaware, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and West Virginia grants to support performing arts touring projects in these regions. Artists may be from anywhere across the U.S. and around the world, but must be based outside of presenter’s home state/territory.
Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is working with all of our grantees to be as flexible as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time of this press release, Special Presenter Initiatives presenters and artists were working together to select engagement dates while taking into account the necessary health precautions to ensure a successful partnership. For the 2020-2021 cycle, MAAF was able to fund all approved Special Presenter Initiatives grantees at their fully requested amount:
- In Delaware, eight grants totaling $14,900 will support engagements at the Arden Club, Coastal Concerts, Delaware Friends of Folk, University of Delaware, and Wilmington Winter Bluegrass Festival.
- Five grants totaling $8,800 will support District of Columbia engagements at CapitalBop, Dance Place/DC Wheel Productions, and The Essential Theatre.
- In the U.S. Virgin Islands, $18,425 in grants will support four engagements at The Forum and St. John School of the Arts.
- And in West Virginia, seven grants totaling $14,000 will support engagements at ArtsLink, Beckley Concert Association, Carnegie Hall, Kanawha Valley Friends of Old-Time Music and Dance, and Pocahontas County Opera House.
