Folk and Traditional Arts Community Projects Grants Announced | |
Congratulations to the 2024-2025 Folk and Traditional Arts Community Projects Grantees! We are excited to see our grantees and their communities in action with 21 supported projects across nine states.
The Folk and Traditional Arts Community Projects Grants fund activities that support the vitality of traditional arts and cultural communities in the mid-Atlantic region, including performances, public art collaborations, workshops, trainings, exhibitions, fieldwork, and artistic collaborations. Mid Atlantic Arts encourages projects that cross state/territory borders, as well as projects that support or engage underserved or underrepresented artists, practitioners, traditions, or constituents.
The 2024-2025 round of Folk and Traditional Arts Community Projects Grants activities include Hispanic Holiday Tradition celebrations in Washington, DC; woodcarving in Long Island's North Fork; Persian Jewish Musical Traditions and Stories in Philadelphia; Preserving Puerto Rican Craftmanship in Ponce, Puerto Rico; Quelbe, Reggae, Calypso, and Spirituals celebrations in St. John, USVI; and more.

National Leaders of Color Fellowship
The National Leaders of Color Fellowship (LoCF) is accepting applications! LoCF is a transformative leadership development experience curated by WESTAF in order to establish multicultural leadership in the creative and cultural sector.
During the program, fellows receive access to specialists in the field, strategic learning objectives determined to deepen thought on anti-racist and culturally-oriented leadership practices, and national-level network and cohort building. Upon completion of this program, participants transition to alumni status and have opportunities to collaborate with the US Regional Arts Organization (URSAO) in their region as advisors, funding panelists, and/or other professional capacities.

Appalachian Foodways Practitioner Fellowships
Our 2025 Appalachian Foodways Practitioner Fellowships application is now open! Home cooks and bakers, seed savers, farmers, community elders, keepers of recipes and traditional foodways knowledge, hunters and foragers, and any others who have made significant contributions to sustaining Appalachian food heritage of their communities are eligible to apply.
This program is part of our Central Appalachian Living Traditions initiative, in partnership with Grow Appalachia of Berea College and the Appalachian Studies Association.

NEA Disability Arts Listening Session
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) invites arts and cultural workers with disabilities to join a virtual listening session on Monday, September 30 from 3:30-5:00pm EST. The session will cover access barriers, best practices of access accommodation, and ideal scenarios for accommodating access needs.

Future Forebears
Future Forebears is an initiative piloted by National Leaders of Color Fellow, Fabiola R. Delgado. The program seeks to connect and celebrate contemporary artists in the DC-Maryland-Virginia region. This initiative includes conversations with artists at various career stages, exploring their journeys and providing insights into building, supporting and navigating creative and professional paths.

Alexis Duque’s Los Dueños de Nada Exhibition
Taller Puertorriqueño (Philadelphia, PA)
Catch New York-based Colombian artist's solo exhibition exploring migration, displacement, and resilience. The Adolf Busch Award invites applications from organizations using music to address social injustice. The award will grant $10,000 to one organization each year that focuses on nurturing the musical and leadership skills of individuals, supporting disenfranchised segments of the population, engaging in grassroots initiatives that promote a pluralistic and equitable society, and demonstrates a willingness to shape a response to systemic issues in a challenging environment. Foundwork invites applications for Foundwork Artist Prize. The Foundwork Artist Prize is an annual juried grant that recognizes outstanding artist practices. Honorees receive unrestricted $10,000 grants and remote studio visits with jurors who include distinguished curators, gallerists, and artists. Fellowships are six weeks long, offered year-round, and provide fellows housing, food, and a studio or workspace, as well as $1,750 in financial support. artists, writers, choreographers, and composers of any stage in their career are eligible to apply. The Pittsburgh Foundation is accepting applications for The Bennet Prize, a stipend/grant-in-aid program established to support the fine art practice of a woman painter working in figurative realism. The winner receives $25,000 each year for two years, offering time for the recipient to create a solo show. An additional award of $10,000 will be given to one other finalist. The Morgan Fund (a Donor Advised Fund held at the Seattle Foundation) is accepting applications for 2024 grants for arts organizations. The fund supports organizations in the greater Seattle (Puget Sound region) and Washington, D.C., areas. For the 2024 cycle, the fund will accept proposals for both general support (up to $16,000) and program/project-based proposals (with amounts of up to $24,000). Deadline: Friday, October 4, 2024.
